Anplis de Delta Air Liy ' $1 million grant as an Annual Disaster Giving Program partner, the airline has contributed $250,000 to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Dorian relief in the Bahamas. As part of the contribution, the American Red Cross will support the Bahamas Red Cross with much-needed funds, supplies, technical assistance, and staff to assist in the disaster relief efforts.

“Delta stands in support of the people affected by Hurricane Dorian,” said Tad Hutcheson, Delta’s Managing Director of Community Engagement. “We are grateful to have partners like the American Red Cross and to be able to contribute to experts that specialize in disaster response year-round and can help provide immediate assistance to those in need.”

Delta employees and customers are also contributing to the Red Cross in the wake of the destruction caused by Hurricane Dorian. Delta customers can donate directly to disaster relief at a Delta microsite as well as donating miles to the Red Cross through SkyWish, the charitable arm of Delta’s SkyMiles frequent flyer program. It allows Delta and its SkyMiles members to donate miles to charitable organizations worldwide.

The American Red Cross is Delta’s longest-standing nonprofit partner, which has allowed the company, its employees and customers to help people in need for close to 80 years. Delta employees participate in corporate blood drives throughout the year, making Delta the largest corporate sponsor of American Red Cross blood drives with 13,064 points collected in fiscal year 2019 (year end June 30).

The American Red Cross is the U.S.’ premier provider of disaster relief, blood, health and safety services, whose purpose is to meet the immediate needs of individuals, families and communities affected by disasters.
